St Louis Day One

After waking up and having a huge breakfast, we went to the city to see the Arch and to go to the City Museum.

The Arch

Construction all around as they build a new park, but otherwise still a nice trip. Ada was a little nervous during the ride up as the capsule “clicks” in order to stay upright. Liam remembered that Jeanette told him that it was 630 feet tall, so he was the one in our group that answered it correctly when our tour guide asked.

When at the top all was well. Ada didn’t even worry too much about the sway or the ride back down.

City Museum

A friend of ours told Jeanette that the museum was the best place to visit. The kids probably won’t disagree. They spent hours and hours running around the place which is pretty much all made of steel in the multi floor play area. We went down ten story slides and up and down five (six?) story steel play areas, some of which I wouldn’t be able to do but the kids survived anyway. I said that they would never find the ant hill at the Minnesota Children’s Museum exciting at all after today.

On the way back to the car we passed a Hooters restaurant. I was joking that I should take the boys there. Liam asked what it was as we were passing by and I told him that it was a sports bar while pointing to all of the televisions.

Soon afterward, since he wanted to see Golden State play, he was walking down the street downtown singing, “Hooters, Hooters, Hoo-ters!” over and over.
